License Requirements in Ohio

Ohio does not require a state welding license for employees. Employers in automotive, aerospace, and heavy manufacturing typically require AWS Certified Welder (CW) credentials and process-specific certifications. Nuclear and pressure vessel work requires ASME Section IX qualification. Hobart and Lincoln Electric both offer AWS-accredited testing on-site.
